Low def light on but tank is full

Headed on a road trip and for the last few 100 miles I have been repeatedly getting the below warning. “DEF Fault Speed Likited to 50 MPH in 50 miles”. Makes complete since right if your DEF tank is low. HOWEVER…. Look and my Def tank gauge, just over 50% full. Nor did I get the typical “500 mile range left on Def tank” notification.
